Now that you know how to craft an insight email that really sings, you need to know how to ensure all of that time and effort spent writing copy, designing branded templates and writing amazingly targeted subject lines isn’t all for naught.

10 Tips To Ensure Insight Email Deliverability

#1. Don’t buy or rent lists. Sure, they’re perfectly legal to but and have people who’ve actually opted-in for email, but that doesn’t mean they’ll want them – and that ups the chances that your email will be marked as Spam.

#2. Don’t scrape outside websites for email addresses. Not only is this bad form – it’s a surefire way to get yourself listed as a Spammer.

#3. Don’t embed forms within your emails. Use a great call-to-action with a clickable button that triggers a landing page site visit instead.

#4. Avoid those Spam-trigger words like “free”, “guarantee” or “no obligation”. These are no longer guaranteed to get you marked as Spam by a filter per se, but, the savvy recipient may roll their eyes and send you there themselves.

#5. Don’t use exclamation points!!!!!! Not only do they look unprofessional, they trigger Spam filters.

#6. Always include alt text in emails containing images. This would ensure any an all email clients can read them. Not doing so incurs the ire of the almighty filters.

#7. Spellcheck. Spam filters are also great spellers, believe it or not.

#8. Don’t keep emailing addresses that bounce. That’s a surefire way to get your IP blacklisted. It’s also lazy insight email marketing.

#9. Don’t include attachments. Landing page triggers where the user can choose to download an attachment are better. Email viruses have given all attachments a bad rap.

#10. Don’t use huge images, videos, flash or javascript. While this might give you a gorgeous product on your email client, it could look absolutely awful on another. Plus, too many bells and whistles tend to pique Spambots’ interest.

Remember, no matter how informed an email marketer you happen to be, email Spam filters are constantly moving and fickle targets. Stay vigilant as these trends change and keep a close eye on your insight email deliverability scoring. If you see sudden and precipitous drops in your delivery rates, it could just be that Spam filters don’t love you as much as they used to.
