Since 2001 Jan (“Yahn”) Griffioen has been working with small and mid-size B-to-B firms on the development and execution of smart business strategies and marketing plans to help them achieve their goals.
He thrives at collaborating with management teams on identifying the key issues and creating practical solutions to business challenges. A fact-based, data-driven approach is at the core of everything Jan does, helping companies to become more proactive, take charge of their future, and make well-informed business decisions.
Jan spent most of his pre-consulting career at small and mid-market B2B firms. He understands the B2B environment and is all too familiar with the challenges that small firms face. He believes strongly that smaller firms should have access to MBA-level strategic consulting advice, but at budgets they can afford.
With a strategic, analytical mindset, Jan never loses sight of the goal of achieving tangible results. No ‘paralysis by analysis’, but a clear balance between the short-term need for quickly boosting sales and a longer-term strategic approach to improving the firm’s performance.
Prior to embarking on a consulting career, he held positions in management, business development, and engineering at Philips Consumer Electronics, TNO Automotive Research, Altair Engineering, ESI North America, Silicon Graphics, Johnson Controls Automotive (now Adient), and Hawtal Whiting North America.
Jan has an MBA in Marketing and Corporate Strategy from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
